Bride prep can be a hectic time but with a little planning you can help the photographer capture those important emotions and the little details.
1. Pick a location that is spacious, full of light and reflects your aesthetic.
Don’t let the bride prep location become and afterthought you are going to be spending a significant portion of your day getting primped and pampered there. Getting ready is all part of the fun. This area should be a cozy one, somewhere every one can relax before the big day ahead. It should also compliment your vision for the day. “For example, if you’re having an elegant ballroom wedding, perhaps a suite at an upscale historic hotel would be a nice fit. If booking a hotel room I often sergeant a corner room. This means the light can come from more than one direction.
2. Less is defiantly more.
You really don’t want to see a messy house or lots of clutter in you wedding pictures. Try and keep this room as clutter free as possible. A little background music and some champagne are a must, as is a sense of humour.
3. Get all the details ready.
Have a special hanger you’d love your dress photographed with? All the little things, the details you spent months organising. I want to capture them and any details that are important to you, get them all together, it just saves hunting for them after I arrive. Its also a good idea to ask one of your brides maids to take your dress out of the bag and hang it up.
4. Enjoy the moment.
Its your big day! You have been planning it for months even years. The getting ready is as much a part of the day as the rest enjoy it. The bride prep shots are just as much about the details as they are the candid moments.
