There are countless little details that go into making your wedding day special, and as your wedding photographer, I find immense joy in capturing every one of these meaningful touches. From your rings to your shoes, the flowers, and all the other carefully chosen items, each piece tells a story about your style, personality, and the love you’ve poured into planning this day. These details might seem small on their own, but together they create the beautiful tapestry of your wedding day, and it’s these touches you’ll want to remember as you look back in the years to come. To help you make the most of these unique elements, I’ve put together some top tips on how to showcase them for the best results in your photographs.

  • The Rings! Your wedding rings are perhaps the most symbolic and treasured items of the day, representing your commitment and union. I always make it a priority to capture a beautiful image of your rings, whether individually, together, or creatively paired with other details. One little tip: try to give the rings a polish before the big day to enhance their shine and sparkle in photographs, making them look as stunning in your photos as they do in real life.
  • Custom Dress Hangers A personalised hanger for your wedding dress, and perhaps for your bridesmaids’ dresses, adds an extra touch of elegance to your preparation photos. The custom hangers not only elevate the look of the dress in the photos but also give you a lovely keepsake from the day. If possible, have the dresses already on their hangers before I arrive, as it makes it easier to capture that first shot of your beautiful gown and the dresses of those closest to you.
  • Your Flowers The flowers are often a centerpiece of the day’s aesthetic, whether in your bouquet or as part of the venue decor. Sometimes, however, they may arrive close to the ceremony start time, which can make it challenging to capture them fully with your other details. If you can arrange for your flowers to arrive a bit earlier—ideally before I arrive—this allows me to incorporate them into a series of detail shots. I love styling your flowers alongside your shoes, perfume, or other special items, creating a gorgeous arrangement that reflects your style and theme.
  • Order of Service and Invitations Including printed items like an order of service or even your wedding invitations in the photos of your details is a wonderful way to personalise your gallery. These items often reflect your colour scheme and wedding theme, helping to tie the visual story of your day together. If you bring these along to the bridal preparation area, I can arrange them beautifully with the rest of your details for a lovely, cohesive set of images.
  • Be Ready Having all your important items gathered and ready when I arrive for bridal preparation helps things flow smoothly. I always start with detail photos, as capturing these early allows me to hand them back to you quickly, meaning I won’t need to ask for them later in the day when you’re busy enjoying other moments. A bit of preparation here can save time, so if everything’s ready to go, it allows us to dive right in and make the most of every precious detail.

These little touches are part of what makes your wedding day uniquely yours, and I look forward to capturing them in a way that you’ll cherish forever.
