Pontefract Wedding Photographer

Hi, I’m Dave, a relaxed, documentary wedding photographer based near Castleford, so Pontefract is right on my doorstep. I photograph weddings in Pontefract, Knottingley and the villages south towards the A1, from Kings Croft to Wentbridge House, and there’s never a travel charge.

I keep things easy-going. I’ll blend in, capture what really happens and keep the posed pictures short so you can enjoy your day. You’ll get around 800 edited pictures from a full day, in an online gallery within three weeks.

Photographing a Wedding in Pontefract

A lot of the venues around Pontefract sit close to the A1, which makes life easy for guests travelling from further afield. For me it means I can be with you first thing in the morning without any fuss.

Mornings are one of my favourite parts of the day: the fizz, the nerves, the bridesmaids doing each other’s hair. I’ll quietly get on with it while you get ready, and you won’t need to stop what you’re doing for me.

If you’re marrying in church first, I’ll cover the ceremony quietly from the back and the sides, then be waiting at the door as you walk out as newlyweds.

The country house venues round here come with plenty of outdoor space, so there’s always somewhere lovely for portraits. I’ll keep them to around twenty minutes so you’re back with your guests for drinks, and if the weather turns we’ll make the most of the light indoors instead.

Wentbridge House sits in over 20 acres in Wentbridge, just south of Pontefract, with grounds redesigned by the Chelsea gold medal winning landscape architect Stephen Welch. You can marry in the Crystal Suite for up to 130, the Leatham Room for up to 70, the Tudor Room for up to 24, or outside at the Garden Folly. See Georgia & Luke’s, Emily & Duncan’s and Leah & Ed’s weddings.

Rogerthorpe Manor

Rogerthorpe Manor is in Badsworth, a couple of miles from the A1. It’s licensed for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, and parking on site is free. Beth & Ryan’s wedding is a lovely one to look through.

Burntwood Court is in Brierley, just over the border near Barnsley. It has 35 acres of landscaped grounds with gardens and a bandstand, and its own licensed chapel with oak beams and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Hooton Pagnell Hall, out towards Doncaster, has eight licensed spaces for 6 to 120 guests, including the Summer House and the Pavilion, set in five acres of gardens with a terrace and sweeping lawns. Ashlea & Adam and Tara & John both married here.
