The Parsonage Hotel is just across the road for St Marys church, weather you decide to have a church service or not the hotel can cater for your needs. The hotel and spar are perfect for any wedding day, the hotel is set in 6 acres of beautiful gardens from a small maze to a woodland area the The Parsonage Hotel has it all and is the perfect backdrop for your Wedding Photography
The Parsonage Hotel was built in the early 1840s and the hotel maintains many of its original features. There are two restaurants on site as well as a spar. During your wedding day you will have use of Parsonage Hotel Conservatory and exclusive use of their Crystal Suite.

My Approach to Wedding Photography at The Parsonage
I photograph the day as it happens. Most of it you will not notice me doing. I will get everyone together for the family groups you want and I will find the two of you twenty quiet minutes, but the rest of the day is yours to enjoy rather than pose for.
You get 800 or more edited images back within three weeks, and there are 73 five-star Google reviews from couples I have worked with. The Parsonage is an easy run from West Yorkshire, and York itself is six miles up the road.
Photographing a Wedding at The Parsonage
There are three rooms here, including the Wenlock Room and the Crystal Suite, and which one you take changes how the day is photographed more than most couples expect. It is worth walking them with the venue and picking the one whose light you like, not just the one whose size fits.
The grounds are the other half of it. Escrick is flat, open East Yorkshire countryside, which means big skies – and big skies are a gift late in the day. Leave a few minutes free after the meal; that is usually when the best of it happens.
Portraits take twenty minutes and no more. Everything sits close together, so there is no march across an estate and no standing about while somebody fetches the car.
The Setting
The Parsonage sits at Escrick, about six miles south of York, in its own grounds off the main road. It is close enough to York that guests can make a weekend of it and far enough out that the day feels like it belongs to you rather than to a city centre hotel.

Three licensed rooms, its own grounds, and York on the doorstep for anyone travelling in. It is a practical choice that does not feel like a compromise – the building has character, the setting is quiet, and nobody has to work out where to park in York on a Saturday.

Planning Your Parsonage Wedding
The Parsonage Hotel & Spa is in Escrick, about six miles south of York, set in three acres of gardens and woodland. It’s close enough to the city for guests staying in York, but it feels a world away once you’re in the grounds.
Civil ceremonies take place in the Castania Suite, which is licensed for up to 110 guests. After the ceremony and the family pictures, drinks are served in the conservatory, which is kept just for your wedding party, and then everyone moves through to the Crystal Suite for the wedding breakfast, with views over the gardens and its own private bar.
The Parsonage only ever holds one wedding a day, which means the day is all about you, and you won’t be sharing the gardens with another couple when we head out for portraits. With three acres of gardens and woodland, there are plenty of spots close by, so we can get some lovely pictures in about twenty minutes and you’re straight back with your guests.
The hotel also has The Cloisters Spa, which is worth knowing about if you fancy a little treat for you and your bridesmaids before the day, or a relaxing morning after. The wedding team and planners are there to help you with the details, and the venue strongly recommends wedding insurance, so it’s worth sorting that early on.
Because Escrick is so close to York, lots of couples have guests staying in the city. It helps to share your timings with them early, so taxis are booked for the end of the night and nobody misses the first dance.
