Rebecca & Jonathan | The Normans Wedding

This was my very first time at the Normans, due to recent events Rebecca and Jonathan’s wedding had been in my diary for quite a while and it has been one iv very much been looking forward to.  The Normans wedding venue takes its name from the working farm in which it is set in.  Don’t let the fact that this wedding venue is set on a working farm it really is a wonderful venue.  The farm its self had been with the Robinson family for three generations.  It was used for many of the family weddings over the years and for that reason, they decided to open their doors to the public.  Whatever you do tho don’t think the normans is just another barn venue, it’s a lot more than that.

The Normans wedding venue can be found between York and Leeds just off the A64.

Wedding Day – Bride and Groom Preparations

The bridal preparations took place on-site at The Normans wedding Venue, they have a cottage next to the main venue which is perfect for morning wedding preparations.  It has a large room with mirrors along one side and plenty of natural light.  I met Rebecca here in the morning along with the rest of the bridal party.  Everyone was relaxed and in good spirits as they had hair and make-up done and prepared for the day ahead.  Rebecca and the rest of the ladies were ready in plenty of time which in turn gave us plenty of time for pictures before the wedding ceremony.  As a wedding photographer I always recumbent getting into your dress about 45 minutes before the wedding photographers are due to leave the preparation location, this, in turn, means we can get plenty of pictures once dressed, reaction pictures, etc.

We asked the groomsmen to arrive at the wedding venue with out jackets a ties on this meant we were able to capture them applying their final touches before the wedding day ahead.  Jonathan and his grooms men arrived in good spirits and some friendly banter between them all.  We went in to the court yard at the Normans where then men help each other with the finishing touches.

The Wedding Day Ceremony

WOW, what can I say about the wedding ceremony at The Normans?  The ceremony takes place in a rustic bard with a beautiful fairy light wall at one end, wonderfully lit by candlelight.  Jonathan and the rest of the wedding guests took their place in the ceremony room to await the entrance of the bride.  It’s safe to say Jonathan was a little nervous as he stood at the end of the aisle to await his bride Rebecca.  Jonathan and Rebecca had hired a singer, who was singing from the balcony in the wedding barn, a really nice touch which really added to the day.   As the wedding ceremony came to an end both the bride and groom walked back down the aisle and out to the grounds of The Normans to spend some time with their wedding guests

The Wedding Reception

The rest of the wedding day continued in the traditional way with group photographs, wedding breakfast, cake, and dancing.  It was a fantastic wedding day which even the light showers did not spoil.  Rebecca & Jonathan looked so in love as they enjoyed and shared their day with some of the people that matter most.

Of course, I stole them away from the main wedding for some photographs of them both together around the grounds of The Normans.  It was refreshing that the owners said to me feel free to go where ever you would like on the farm for the pictures.  Rebecca & Jonathan said they were up for it so we went exploring around the ground, into the fields, the barns, and the outbuilding to create some stunning pictures of the bride and groom together.

A big thank you to both Rebecca & Jonathan for having me on their special day, it truly was a magical day and I was so pleased to be a part of it.
