Selby Wedding Photographer

Hi, I’m Dave, a relaxed, documentary wedding photographer based near Castleford, so Selby is just along the road from me. I photograph weddings in Selby, Tadcaster, Sherburn and the villages of the Vale of York, from Carlton Towers to The Oakwood at Ryther, with no travel charge.

I’ll capture your day naturally, keep the portraits short so you get back to your guests, and give you around 800 edited pictures from a full day, in an online gallery within three weeks.

Photographing a Wedding in Selby

The land around Selby is wide and flat, so the skies are big and the evening light goes on for ages. It’s brilliant for portraits, and on a clear evening I’ll often ask if I can borrow you for a few minutes when the sun is low.

A lot of the venues here are exclusive use, which makes for a really relaxed day. There’s nobody else around, so we can wander the grounds for pictures without bumping into another wedding.

I’ll cover the ceremony quietly, then the confetti, the drinks and the speeches, without getting in the way. Portraits take about twenty minutes, and if the weather turns we’ll make the most of the light indoors instead.

Carlton Towers is at Carlton, near Selby, and it’s still the family home of Lord and Lady Gerald Fitzalan Howard. Weddings are exclusive use, there are 16 bedrooms in the house plus cottages on the estate, and the walled garden is now a vineyard making English sparkling wine.

The Oakwood at Ryther

The Oakwood sits between Leeds, York and Selby at Ryther, in the Vale of York. It’s exclusive use, with the light-filled Oak Barn for ceremonies and receptions, the Secret Garden, the Granary Barn and lodges and a farmhouse for guests to stay over.
