Castleford Wedding Photographer

Hi, I’m Dave, a relaxed, documentary wedding photographer, and Castleford is home. If you’re getting married in Castleford, Normanton, Featherstone or the villages round about, your photographer lives just down the road.

I photograph the day as it actually happens, with very little posing: the nerves in the morning, the belly laughs in the speeches and the dance floor when everyone finally lets go. From a full day you’ll get around 800 edited pictures, in an online gallery within three weeks.

Photographing a Wedding in Castleford

Being local makes the day easier in lots of small ways. I know the roads between the houses, churches and venues round here, so I can plan the morning around your timings rather than guessing, and if anything changes on the day I’m never far away.

Bride having her make-up done on the wedding morning

I’ll usually start with the getting ready, when everyone’s a bit giddy and the best pictures happen by themselves. Then I’ll follow you through the ceremony, the drinks reception and the speeches, staying in the background and catching it all as it happens.

When it’s time for your portraits, give me about twenty minutes. We’ll go for a wander, I’ll keep you laughing, and you’ll be back with your guests before the canapés run out. If you’ve booked the Signature or Complete package, we’ll slip out again after sunset for fifteen minutes of twilight pictures.

And if it rains? We carry on. A doorway, a big window or a covered porch can give lovely soft light, and some of my favourite pictures have come from days when the weather didn’t play along.

These are the venues closest to Castleford that I photograph. Each one has its own page with more about the venue and the real weddings I’ve photographed there.

Oulton Hall

Oulton Hall sits in 320 acres just outside Rothwell, a few minutes up the road from Castleford, with quick links to the A1, M1 and M62 for guests coming from further away. You can marry in the Repton Suite for up to 70 or the Oulton Suite for up to 220. Have a look at Leanne & Gary’s and Amy & Craig’s weddings there.

Waterton Park Hotel

Waterton Park Hotel is in Walton, near Wakefield. The Georgian hall stands on its own island in the lake, reached by a footbridge, and you can marry either in Walton Hall itself or in the hotel. Hollie & Matt and Sanchia & James both had their weddings here.

Hazlewood Castle

Bride, groom and bridesmaids together on the lawn

Hazlewood Castle, near Tadcaster, has 77 acres of woodland, including Cherry Tree Avenue. Ceremonies can be in the Great Hall or outside at the Garden Pagoda, the Clear Garden Marquee or the Woodland Amphitheatre. It’s a venue I know very well, and Jamie & Lisa and Lauren & Alex are two of the most recent weddings I’ve photographed there.

The Oakwood at Ryther

The Oakwood at Ryther is out in the Vale of York, near Tadcaster, with a Ceremony Hall that seats up to 140. It’s a lovely choice if you want a countryside wedding without a long drive for your Castleford guests.
