The Woodland Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel originally built for a local textile mill owner in 1871. The Woodlands Hotel is set in a magnificent landscaped grounds with first class facilities perfect for your wedding day.

My Approach to Wedding Photography at Woodlands
I photograph the day as it happens. Most of it you will not notice me doing. I will get everyone together for the family groups you want and I will find the two of you twenty quiet minutes, but the rest of the day is yours to enjoy rather than pose for.
You get 800 or more edited images back within three weeks, and there are 73 five-star Google reviews from couples I have worked with. Woodlands is on my doorstep – Gildersome is a few minutes off the M62 between Leeds and Bradford.
Photographing a Wedding at Woodlands
The Orangery is the room that makes this venue for a photographer. It is glass fronted with high ceilings, so it fills with daylight in a way that hotel function rooms almost never do – which means the speeches, the cake and the first dance all have real light on them rather than a colour cast off the ceiling lights.
You have a choice of rooms for the ceremony: the Garden Room for a bigger one and the Study when it is a smaller day. Worth deciding early, because they photograph quite differently – the Study is intimate and close, the Garden Room gives everyone room to breathe.
Portraits do not need long. The grounds are right outside the Orangery doors, so we can step out, take twenty unhurried minutes and be back before anyone notices you have gone. If the weather turns, the Orangery glass does enough that we are not stuck.
The House Itself
Woodlands is a late nineteenth century mansion house built for a Gildersome mill owner, and it still reads as a house rather than a hotel – panelling, proportions and staircases that were made for somebody to live in. That matters on the day, because the getting-ready pictures happen in rooms with character instead of a magnolia box.
There are 22 individually decorated bedrooms, the catering is all done in house, and the venue is set up for exclusive use – the hotel and its grounds are yours rather than shared with the Sunday carvery.

Why Choose Woodlands?
It is the combination that is unusual: a proper Victorian house, a glass room full of daylight, 22 bedrooms so nobody has to drive, and exclusive use of the lot – all a few minutes from the M62 between Leeds and Bradford. Guests get there easily and then stay put.
And because the catering is in house only, the day tends to run to time. That sounds like a small thing. On a wedding day it is not.
