Rebecca & Thomas how did you meet?

I am a teacher, Rebecca is a nurse. We met almost 10 years ago on a night out. Both of us love music and going to gigs/festivals. We both grew up in Huddersfield, and bought our first house just before lockdown.

What made you choose Holdsworth House?

Rebecca saw it on a list of best venues in West Yorkshire, and we decided to view it. As soon as we set foot in there, we were taken aback by how beautiful it was, and how warm and welcoming the staff were.

Bridal Preparations at Holdsworth House

I arrived at Holdsworth House on the morning of Rebecca and Thomas’s wedding, greeted by glorious sunshine and a sense of excitement in the air. Rebecca and her bridal party were already in high spirits, the anticipation building as they prepared for the day ahead. It was the perfect setting to start capturing those early moments. I began by photographing some of the elegant bridal details – the beautifully crafted wedding dress, the delicate shoes, and the bouquet of flowers carefully chosen to complement the day’s theme. Each item had its own significance, adding to the overall story that was about to unfold.

As the morning progressed, I was able to blend into the background and capture some lovely candid moments between Rebecca and her bridesmaids. These natural, unscripted interactions really showed the closeness and happiness that surrounded the group. In addition to the spontaneous shots, I also took the opportunity to create some slightly more posed images, each of which added depth to this first chapter of their wedding day. It was a wonderful start, filled with laughter, anticipation, and an unmistakable sense of joy.

The Wedding Ceremony

Rebecca and Thomas chose the magnificent Holdsworth House for their ceremony, a setting that perfectly matched the intimacy and elegance of their day. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, they exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony filled with love and emotion. It’s moments like these that make me feel incredibly fortunate to do what I do, as I often find myself with the best seat in the house. From my vantage point at the front, I’m able to not only capture the couple as they say their vows but also the reactions of their guests – those tender glances, smiles, and sometimes tears of joy from their loved ones. These interactions add so much depth to the story of the day, as every expression and detail tells part of the couple’s journey together.

The Wedding Reception.

Once Rebecca and Thomas had exchanged their vows and were officially married, they made their way out onto the beautiful lawns of Holdsworth House. It was here, in the sunshine, that the celebrations truly began. This is such a special moment – filled with congratulations, confetti, and spontaneous joy. Rather than rushing straight into formal photos, I always like to allow the couple a bit of time to soak it all in and share this moment with their guests. It’s in these natural exchanges, as they’re embraced by loved ones and greeted with smiles and laughter, that some of the most heartfelt and genuine photographs emerge. These unscripted moments capture the pure happiness of the day and are a wonderful part of the wedding story.

The confetti moment was truly spectacular – a flurry of white petals creating a beautiful contrast against the vibrant surroundings as Rebecca and Thomas were showered with well-wishes from their guests. This stunning display made for some incredible images, capturing the joy and celebration in the air. After this joyful celebration, we moved into the group photos, a key part of any wedding day. While I never believe these should take up too much time, I do think it’s essential to capture the couple with the people who mean the most to them. These are the images you’ll cherish in the years to come, surrounded by those who played a part in your special day.

Thanks to my drone, we were able to easily capture a fantastic shot of all the wedding guests together – a perfect way to record the full scale of the celebration before moving on to the smaller family groups.

The couple’s portraits are a wonderful opportunity for newlyweds to take a few moments away from the hustle and bustle of the wedding day, allowing them to connect and savour their first moments as a married couple. I always aim for a relaxed approach to posing, which helps create stunning portraits that truly reflect their personalities and love for one another. Rebecca and Thomas were simply fantastic in front of the camera, effortlessly showcasing their chemistry and joy. With the picturesque backdrop of Holdsworth House, we captured a series of breathtaking portraits that perfectly encapsulated the essence of their wedding day. These images will serve as cherished reminders of such a memorable celebration, beautifully showcasing their love in a setting that holds special significance for them.

The Wedding Breakfast

Before long, it was time for the much-anticipated wedding breakfast. Rebecca and Thomas made the thoughtful decision to have their speeches take place before the meal—a choice I always recommend to couples. This way, the speech givers can speak without the nerves building up over dinner and fully relax afterwards, allowing them to savour their meal without any lingering pressure.

The speeches were an absolute highlight of the day, packed with laughter, heartfelt stories, and a fair share of tears. It was a wonderful mix of emotions, from humorous anecdotes that had the room in stitches to touching moments that brought everyone closer. The energy in the room was warm and uplifting, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the celebration.

Evening Celebrations

Before long, the evening celebrations were in full swing. The festivities kicked off with the newlyweds sharing their traditional first dance—a beautiful and intimate moment between Rebecca and Thomas. As they swayed together, the room filled with smiles and admiration. Once their dance concluded, it didn’t take long for the party to get started, with all the guests eagerly joining the couple on the dance floor. The atmosphere became lively and joyful, as everyone danced the night away, creating lasting memories
